Adeputra was born on the 31st of December, 1970 in Batu Pahat, Johor. Before going full time in 1996, his involvement was mainly caricature works. He was a cartoonist and illustrator for a publishing house from 1989 to 1992. After which, he was employed by Utusan Malaysia until 1995.His early works were about searching his identity and expression. He was obsessed towards this quest and eventually realised that the best way is to let his soul do the searching with his lines and colours. Ade said “ The quest for individuality in expression is an endless journey. It is not a mission of perfection but allowing free evolvements in it.” The actual search is not about differences but similarities. These qualities bring out the feeling of togetherness and love in his soul.”

After going through a few stages of developments, experiences and observations, his works progresses through shapes and techniques. “To me, art is my spiritual expression within. Just like the artist’s progressive life and movements, creative arts requires changes too. I am not looking for point of stability in my works. It must progress and improve with age and experience.” It is obvious that within a short span of years, Ade’s works clearly travels and progress through his mediums, techniques and ideas. But most importantly, his inclinations towards urbanizations as his conversation subjects are constantly maintained. In fact this one identity brings about stability in his artistic involvement till now. A good artist will be able to transfer his circles of environment and surroundings to canvas. Most of his works are his daily expressions and experiences of challenging life in metropolitan Kuala Lumpur.

The usage of bold and bright colours for imaginative subjects are his identities. He favors the idea of arranging characters and subjects according to their importance. Eventually creates interesting presentations as these are his stories which are easy to understand. He feels that life in the city gives him the freedom of expression within the law, human rights and unfortunately a lot of human hierarchies as well. Every life will have to digest this reality of life. His works will always communicate symbolically and sarcastically towards everyone on the street. As a result, his artworks carry values of life, nostalgic characters and fresh inspirations to the audience. His informal artistic background gives him unlimited space to explore. Unlike most academically trained artists, Ade is not confined to certain styles and streams of works. He is a true artist who paints through in born talent from natural spiritual self. He has his own views about his life. “ We live with our mind. The ability to deliver results will not depend on luck or intelligence. But it all rely on the ability to produce ideas and make it happen.”

Artist ANUAR RASHID

Anuar RASHID was known as a rebel without a cause among his peers during his student days in ITM Shah Alam in the 70’s

He was best remembered as the only student who dared to have a face on fight with the then senior lecturer and respected artist Mr Redza Piyadassa. Anuar was so angry with him that he choose to leave for Eastern Europe without completing his studies.

For almost 30 years, he traveled the world and made himself known among the European collectors and art critics.

He came back to Malaysia in the early 2000’s and made impact by having solo exhibition in Penang.

His early works of Rebel Series Inderapura were mostly burnt as his protest to his lecturer Piyadassa. However, a few survived including two of the series # 1 & 2

Series 2 was purchased by YTL Corporation for RM 80,000 during the Hope , Run & Walk Charity Art Exhibition in 2006.

The current value of such artwork is at the range of RM 70,000 to RM 80,000

Ismail LATIFF is Anuar Rashid only peer who is still active and made equivalent impact in the Malaysian art scene today

2003 - Artist Jam @ Central Market KL

Being a self taught artist, he started painting at the tender age of ten. After he completed his studies in 1995, he left for Seremban as a graphic artist until 1998. In 1999, he started to explore the cosmopolitan life of Kuala Lumpur and be a full time portrait artist. Being an aggressive and fast learner, he received good response for custom made murals and batik art. He moved on to Expressionism in the year 2000. This interest involving a lot of batik art related to landscape, nature and underwater. In the process of doing so, he entertained himself with music and portraitures art.

In the year 2003, he discovered and jointly the founder “Outsiders Art Community”

Being an artist without any academic papers behind him, he teamed up with his best artist buddy, Adeputra creating a new artistic wave with a free expression. This new discovery of style is based on social issues, environment and universal life using methodological symbols.

Beside his bright colours and free subject layouts in his works, he creates images, icons, objects and subjects with unique characteristic and identities.

He strongly feel that art is a medium of visual communication between the artists and his collectors. So he simplified it for easier appreciation among all levels of collectors. He want to be honest in order to produce creative and innovative works.

There are a few interesting combination of artistic medium that he explores such as oil, acrylic with sand, enamel, paper and gunny as base. He made his inaugural step to Japan in 2006 with good success. But his latest discovery of Batik on Canvas proves yet another hidden talent he has. This style is related to him by Mat Dollah a known Malaysian Batik artist with a difference. He taught Chekri to paint batik on canvas and eliminates the complicated and slow process of traditional batik art.

Artist Chow Kok Seong

Chow Kok Seong dilahirkan pada 9 Januari 1947. Beliau mendapat pendidikan seni dari Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, Singapura.
